Mrs. W. Dettmann Funeral Services

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Dettmann, 80, of Luana were held Saturday morning, July 10, at 10:30 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church in Luana with Rev. John Mohr officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 9:30 o'clock in the morning until the time of the services. Burial was in St. John Lutheran cemetery at Luana.

Mrs. Dettmann died early Thursday, July 8, at her home following a stroke, having suffered with a heart ailment for many years. She was hospitalized from Feb. 6 until May 5, after which she returned home.

As Martha Marie Elizabeth, she was born Feb. 24, 1891, in Clayton township, Clayton county, the daughter of Frank and Augusta, nee Kirschner, Milewsky. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran church in Garnavillo by Rev. E. J. Diekoff, June 28, 1891, and confirmed at the same church, April 28, 1905.

She was married to Walter Dettmann, June 15, 1915. They enjoyed the privilege of being married for 56 years. They moved to the Luana community in January of 1944 and to the town of Luana in 1956.

Mrs. Dettmann was a member of St. John Lutheran church and a member of Americal Lutheran Church Women.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schroeder of Garnavillo; one son, Norbert of Luana; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ed Bugenhagen, Lorenz Landt, Alvin Dettmann, Carl Voelz, George Keehner and Ronald Schrader.
