Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Paul J. Livingston was born March 3, 1919 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa to James and Anna (Lechtenberg) Livingston. He attended rural school in the area. Paul moved to Cedar Rapids where he attended Regis High School and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. On May 4, 1954 he married Virginia Walker in Harpers Ferry. Paul was in partnership in the hardware and implement business with John Gates and later Vic Stone. In 1964 he started Livingston Sales and Service Inc. in Edgewood, Iowa and retired in 1972. Paul continued to help with the business over the years.
Paul was a member of the St. Mark's Catholic Church, on the Board of Directors at Farmers Savings Bank in Colesburg, a member of Edgewood Commercial Club, and a past member of the Ed-Co School Board. He died Wednesday March 3, 1999 at his residence near Edgewood. Paul was 80 years old.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mitzi Livingston of Clarence, Iowa, Paula Livingston and her husband Michael Salow of Urbana, Iowa and Roberta Livingston of St.Paul, MN. He was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at St.Mark's in Edgewood. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ed Lechtenberg and the Rev. John Friederick officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with Leonard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
