Funeral services for Mabel Nielson were held Friday, February 13, 1998, 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. Rev. Christopher Staley officiated. Organist was Helmuth Landt. Pallbearers were Bob Bugenhagen, Don Bugenhagen, Ervin Bugenhagen, Norman Mueller, Keith Mohs, and Lamoine Wentz. Burial was in the Luana Lutheran Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.

Mabel Minnie Marie Nielsen, daughter of William and Wilhemina (Meyer) Bugenhagen, was born November 22, 1909 at Luana, Iowa. She was baptized January 30, 1910, and confirmed May 25, 1924. She graduated from the Luana High School May 18, 1924.

Mabel was united in marriage to Orval Radach on March 19, 1930. Orval died on November 14, 1940, leaving two children, Janice and Gary. Mabel married Adolph Nielsen on December 10, 1943. Adolph died on January 28, 1964, leaving one child Dean. Mabel loved college football and basketball, especially the Hawkeyes.

Mabel died on Tuesday, February 10, 1998 at her daughter's home in Center Point, Iowa.
