SYLVAN E. SARGENT

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 12, 1996 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Strawberry Point for Sylvan E. Sargent, 80, who died on September 12, 1996 at People’s Memorial Long Term Care in Independence following a brief illness where he had been the past 8 years. Rev. Al Hock was the officiating pastor.

Sylvan Emery Sargent was born on May 24, 1916 at Strawberry Point, Iowa, the son of Emery and Rose (Skibbe) Sargent. On October 3, 1995 he married Dolores at the Care Center.

Sylvan was a retired farmer living the greater part of his life in the Maynard area and was of the Lutheran faith.

Sylvan is survived by his wife, Dolores Sargent, Independence; three step-sons, Richard Cooksley, Lamont; Kenny Cooksley, Winthrop; and Robert Cooksley, Rowley; and two step-daughters, Kathryn Palmer, Mason City; and Margaret Hamilton, Winthrop. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Kade.

Casket bearers were Bob Kalb, Pete Kalb, Mike Ryan, Richard Cooksley, Kenny Cooksley, and Robert Cooksley.

Interment was in the Cass Township Cemetery at Strawberry Point. Roberson Funeral Home was in charge of professional arrangements.
