Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Lillie Solberg were held November 13, 1985 at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa. The Rev. Keith Klemm officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville,Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Marion Cemetery. Casket bearers were Harold Hanson, Steve Amundson, Jeffrey Wettleson, David Amundson, Randy Schnuelle, and Marcus Wettleson.
Lillie was the daughter of Wettle and Lina (Alsaker) Wettleson. She was born November 9, 1901 in Clayton County. She was baptized December 22, 1901 and confirmed May 21, 1916, both at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. She died November 11, 1985 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa.
She received her education in a Grand Meadow Township School (McNeil School), attended the Clermont High School and enrolled in a business course at Waldorf at Forest City, Iowa. On February 26, 1936 she married Arthur Solberg in the parsonage at St.Olaf, Iowa. They lived on a farm west of Hawkeye, Iowa in Fayette County. After the death of her husband in 1978, she lived with her two sisters. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the past 4 years. She was a life-time member of the Marion Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Theodore and Robert and two sisters, Gunille (Mrs. Harold Opsand) and Julia Wettleson.
Surviving are two sisters, Christine Rypestol (Mrs. Marcus) of Elgin and Valdine Nelson (Mrs. Martin) of Clermont, ten nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
