Marie Blanche Ambrose, age 92, Monona, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, following a long illness. Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona, with Rev. John Moran officiating. Burial followed in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural McGregor. Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements. Marie was born March 28, 1912, in rural Clayton County to John T. and Anna (Klima) Havlicek. She attended school in the rural area. On April 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Ambrose at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona. Seven children were born to this union. Marie is survived by four daughters, Caroline (Virgil) Lenth of St. Olaf, Mary Cuvelier of Waukon, Loretta (Terry) Sautter of Manchester, and Linda Landt of McGregor; one son, Roger (Vickey) Ambrose of Marion; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one child at birth; a son, Robert; one grandchild, Terry "T.J." Sautter Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Shauni, and Casi Lauer; and four brothers, Frank, Benjamin, Leo, and John Havlicek. Casketbearers were Rick Lenth, Randy Lenth, Ron Lenth, Todd Mitchell, Trent Mitchell, and Troy Mitchell.
