Funeral Services Held For Charles Downing

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the E. U. B. Church in Castalia for Charles D. Downing, 72, who passed away Saturday. Rev. Harlan C. Snow was in charge of the rites.

Charles Delbert Downing, son of Charles and Sarah Downing, was born on a farm near Monona, September 29, 1879. He passed away Saturday, March 29 at the age of 72 years and six months.

Charles Downing was married February 22, 1910 to Edna Hunter of Castalia and they made their home there on a farm for about five years. They then moved to Oebriches, South Dakota where they made their home until 25 years ago when they returned to Castalia and have lived there since.

Mr. Downing is a member of the Methodist Church and is also a member of the I. O. O. F.

He is survived by his wife, who is a patient in a nursing home at Decorah, and three brothers, Claude and Len of McGregor and Ray of Elkader; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leslie, and one sister, Irene.
