Fred Davis

Funeral services were held at the Swede Ridge Church on Nov. 8th for Fred Davis, a life-long resident of the McGregor community, who passed away Nov. 5th at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 27 days. Student Pastor Les Larson officiated.

Mr. Davis leaves to mourn his passing his four brothers, Oscar of Luana, Oliver of St. Olaf, and Ray and Clarence of rural McGregor; two sisters, Mrs. Sigvold (Emily) Berke of Wheaton, Ill. and Mrs. Mandus (Marguerite) Laufer of Cedar Rapids. Another sister, Mrs. Joe (Marie) Kopena, passed away in May of this year.

Having never married, he farmed by himself for a number of years on the family farms, after which he worked as a farm hand for various farmers of this community, being with the Robert Schultz family of Pleasant Ridge for many years where he was at the time of his death.

Interment was in the Moody Cemetery on Moody Ridge. Pallbearers were four nephews: Kenneth, Duane, Gerald and Russell Davis and Craig and Bruce Schultz.
