Robert Simon Marovets

Robert Simon Marovets, son of Anton and Hazel (Huffman) Marovets, was born December 1, 1931. He died Friday, August 30 at his home following a long illness. He was 64 years old.

Born in rural Monona, Robert received his education in the Vlazny School and Monona High School.

He was married to Joyce Holmseth on January 9, 1988 at the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona. He farmed for 35 years. He was very active in the following organizations: on the board of Whitetails Unlimited, Cattlemen's Association, Ducks Unlimited, Decorah Area Coin Club, on the board for 28 years of the Allamakee County Farm Bureau and board member of Equity Coop Livestock Sales Association in Waukon. He was a lifelong member of the Garden City United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife Joyce; children, Ronald Marovets of Monona; Sheila Amann of Round Lake, Ill.; Steve (Lela) Marovets of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; and step-children: Wayne Bartlett Jr. of New York City, NY; Terri (Excier) Rodriguez of Wichita, Kan.; Christina Bartlett of Denver, Colo. and Steven Bartlett of Clear Lake, IA; nine grandchildren: Nicholas and Cassandra Amann, Trisha Potter, Vanessa Ashmore, Stewart Brinkman, Trevor and Sean Gilbertson, Samuel and Michale Rodriguez; brothers and sisters, Ben (Evelyn) Marovets and Margaret Koopman; Anna Mae (Allen) Leas, all of Monona and Anthony (Betty) Marovets of Guttenberg.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, RoseMary Koopman and an infant son, Robert.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 2 at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona with burial in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
