BLUMHAGEN, Esther Ida Anna

Esther Ida Anna Blumhagen, daughter of William Carl and Wilhelmina Louisa (Meyer) Bugenhagen, was born November 4, 1898 near Luana, Iowa. She passed away July 22, 1982 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Services were held at the St.Paul Lutheran Church on Monday July 26, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Miene, Roger Kuhse, Ronald Fox, Leslie Lawson, John Green, and Bill Panncke

She was baptized December 18, 1898 and confirmed March 16, 1913 both at St.John Lutheran Church in Luana. She attended the Luana School. On March 16, 1921 she was married to Carl Blumhagen at the home of her parents. To this union a son was born. They farmed near Ossian for 18 years after which they moved to a farm south of Postville and for the last two years she had lived in town.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died in 1967. Surviving are a son, Leon of Postville, four grandchildren, Alan, Anne, Audrey, and Adrian; one great-grandson, three brothers, Edwin of Monona, and William and Walter, both of Luana; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Irene) Harnack of Froelich,, Iowa and Mrs. Adolf (Mabel) Nielsen of Luana.
