Mrs. Mary Ann Meyer died at the home of her daughter Miss Louise Meyer on Sunday, Nov. 24. Mrs. Meyer had been failing for six months past. About three weeks ago she sustained a stroke of paralysis from which she could not recover.
Mary Ann Doll was born Mary 16, 1822, in Amt Achrem, Baden, German, and came to Erie county, New York, in 1842, and this same year was married to Nicholas Meyer. They lived there until 1853 when the determined to make a home in the west and moved to Illinois and thence to this county in 1854, having since been resident of this vicinity. Mr. Meyer died October 7th, 1869, leaving to his wife the task of rearing their family. Mrs. Meyer was the mother of 11 children, 4 boys and 7 girls, of whom five are living, Nicholas Meyer, of Boardman township, Mrs. Katharine Moulton, of Griswold, Ia., Mrs. Wm. Ahlitz, of Wheelerwood, Ia., Miss Louisa Meyer and Mrs. Frank Hofer, of Elkader.
The funeral was held yesterday morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Rev. J. F. Reilley officiating.
