Local Youth Dies In Auto Accident Here

Wayne McNally Is Victim Of Tragedy; Funeral Was Tuesday

Wayne McNally, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McNally of Luana died of injuries suffered in an automobile accident which occurred at the junction of the Frankville road with highway 51, four and one-half miles north of Postville on Saturday night.

Wayne was riding alone at the time. He was driving off the Frankville road onto highway 51 when he apparently lost control and the car plowed straight on at the dead end road and crashed into a bluff. He was taken to Postville Hospital where he died about an hour later.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Marion Lutheran Church at Gunder with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Burial was at the Gunder cemetery.

Wayne Richard McNally, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McNally, was born in Grand Meadow township, April 9, 1930. He passed away at the Postville Hospital August 5, 1950, at the age of 20 years.

Wayne was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. He attended grade school at Grand Meadow District No. 3 and entered Postville high school in September, 1945. He graduated in May of 1949. He was active in track, football and baseball and was a member of the Postville Letter Club, the Student Council, and was president of his class in 1948.

He was a good friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He leaves to mourn his parents, Clara and Lewis McNally; this two brothers, Robert and Ronald, at home; his eight sisters, Mary Blatti of New Hampton; Lucille McNally of Kansas City, Missouri; Dolores Varty of Marion; Shirley Nylund of Decorah; Virginia, Betty, Patricia and Sandra, all at home; and a host of other relatives and friends.
