Lawrence E. Miller was born Sept. 9, 1898, in Beulah, Iowa in Giard Twp., Clayton County, to parents Frank and Clara (Mayhew) Miller. He died Friday, Sept. 7, 1990 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. He was baptized by Rev. Berg in Monona and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He received his education in Froelich and Beulah schools.

On June 7, 1927 he was married to Mabel Siege at St. John Lutheran Church in Guttenberg by Rev. Emil Lehne. They had one son. Lawrence worked for the railroad for many years and as a carpenter. He worked 25 years at McGregor Hardware. The couple lived at their home in Giard for 62 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter-in-law, Alice Miller; grandson, Kevin Miller and a brother, Walter.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel; one son, Duane of Glen Burnie, MD; 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandsons, a brother, Earl of Prescott, AZ and 3 sisters, Frances Beckett of Monona, Eleva Ferguson of Giard and Agnes Havlicek of Monona.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 10, 1990 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona at 11 a.m. Pastor Elwin Farwell officiating. Organist was Florence Evans. Burial was in Giard Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gene Neverann, Richard Becker, William Becker, Francis Forst, Roger Lange and Maurice Meyer.

Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona was in charge of services.
