Leida Marie Mueller, 92, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 9, 1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
She was born April 10, 1896 in Garnavillo, Iowa to William and Augusta (Kuenzel) Ahlers. She was raised and educated in Clayton County attending rural schools; was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo, Iowa. At the age of 9 she moved with her parents to Giard.
On February 5, 1920 she married William "Bill" H. F. Mueller. The couple had 2 children. They farmed 6 years near Farmersburg and in 1926 moved to the Clermont area where they continued to farm. William died June 25, 1985. For the past year Leida resided at the Good Samaritan home in Waukon, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 12, 1:30 p.m. at the West Clermont Lutheran Church with Pastor Donald Loots officiating
She was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, and 2 sisters, Anna Lindaman and Elenora Ahlers.
Surviving are her son George and his wife Vivian of West Union; a daughter, Mrs. George (Caroline) Wander, Postville; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a niece, Olga Ferguson, McGregor and a nephew, Arnold Becker, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Casket bearers were Michael Friederich, Jacob Friederich, Jr., Henry McMillian, Lorenz Landt, DeVere Halverson and Harold Halverson.
Interment was in God's Acre Cemetery, rural Clermont. Muehlethaler's Funeral Home, Elgin, was in charge of arrangements.
