Mohs, Esther Anna Minna (Doerring) 1902-1966

Esther Anna Minna Mohs, daughter of Charles and Louise (Schrader) Doerring, was born April 10, 1902, in Marion township, Clayton county, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, June 22, 1902, by Rev. Fred Braun. She received her schooling in the Eno School, Wagner township. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 16, 1916 in St. John Lutheran Church, Luana.

She was married to Elmer A. Mohs January 18, 1928, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doerring. The couple started farming south of Luana, later moving to a farm northwest of town. Two children, Keith and Marvin, blessed their union.

The couple retired to Luana in 1959. Mrs. Mohs became ill of a stroke two weeks ago, January 12, and passed away at McGregor Hospital, Monday morning, January 24. She attained the age of 63 years, nine months, and 14 days. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and the Women of the Church organization.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Marvin, Postville, and Keith, Monona; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Amanda) Becker, Postville; three brothers, Ed and Lester of Monona and Arno of Postville; and five grandsons. Her husband and her parents preceded her in death.

The funeral was from St. John Church, Luana, today (Wednesday) afternoon, with the Rev. Luther A. Meyer in charge. She was laid to rest in Luana Lutheran Cemetery.
