A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. May 24, 2010 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Elkader, Iowa, with visitation being held at 10 a.m. until service time May 24 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Elkader.
Louise Ethel (Phelps) Lutz, 72, of Elkader, died Friday, May 21, 2010, at the Guttenberg Hospital. She was born March 22, 1938, to Eben and Hattie (Jones) Phelps at the homestead.
She attended school in Guttenberg, and graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1956. Louise was one of the top instructors in Artex Paints. For a time she worked as a CNA, home provider. She was united in marriage to Gustav R. Lutz on June 16, 1956, at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader. Together they lived on the homestead on Highway 13 until 1985, when they relocated to their current home on Volga Road.
Louise is survived by her husband Gus, of Elkader; sons, Stephen (Donna) Lutz of Mederville, Gustav W. Lutz of Strawberry Point, Walter Lutz of Elkader, William (Sue) Lutz of Ft. Sill, OK; daughter, Rosana (Robert) Zamora of Elkader; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Vern (Georgia) Phelps of Deputy, IN, sisters, Ina (Bob) Davis of Dundee, IA, Marieta (Myron) Smith of Monroe, WI and Linda (Jr. Feltes) Chambers of Delaware, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Phelps; sisters, Vivian Knospe and Margaret Crary; brother-in-law, Lester Lutz and daughter Kimberly Lin Lutz.
