MARQUETTE, Iowa -- Mari Louise Eggen, 29, of Appleton, Wis., formerly of Marquette, died Friday, April 10, 1992, at a Green Bay (Wis.) hospital, as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Green Bay.

Services will be a 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, both in McGregor. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Thornburg Funeral home, McGregor, where the scripture wake service will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Eggen was a saleswoman at Badger Wholesale Co., Green Bay.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1962, in McGregor, daughter of Harry and Marlene (Welch) Abel. She married Paul Eggen on June 11, 1983, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McGregor, he survives.

She graduated from Mar-Mac High School, McGregor, and attended Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are two daughters, Anna and Kristin Eggen, both at home; her parents Harry and Marlene Abel of Marquette; four brothers, Dean Abel of Janesville, Wis., Perre Abel of Marquette, Scott Abel of Pownal, Maine, and Jon Abel of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Cherri Smith of Appleton, Joni Abel of New York and Amy Abel of Marquette; her maternal grandmother, Caroline Welch of McGregor; her paternal grandmother, Bernice Heiderscheit of New Albin; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Jeanne Eggen of McGregor.

...................one of three tri-state residents killed in automobile accidents during the weekend. Mari Louise Eggen, 29, formerly of Marquette, Iowa, was killed in a weather-related accident in Green Bay, Wis., Friday ......................

...............Eggen, who lives in Appleton, Wis., and was a saleswoman for a Green Bay company, died Friday from injuries following a chain-reaction accident in a storm.

"Apparently she struck a guard-rail and then was struck by another car," said Ashwaubenon County Coroner Jeanne Williams said. "They were then struck by a third vehicle. It was a mess."

Rescue workers found Eggen halfway out of her car when they arrived, Williams said. Her injuries were caused by the third car, police said.

Williams said snow, sleet and rain made driving conditions terrible. ...............
