Blanche Eiffert Last Rites Held
Funeral services for Blanche Eiffert, 70, were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 20, at 1:30 o'clock at Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren Church with Rev. Clifton W. Ellerbeck officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12:30 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
Miss Eiffert died Monday night Dec. 16, at the McGregor hospital after a lingering illness.
As Blanche Elizabeth, she was born the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Ulrich) Eiffert, June 7, 1893, in Monona township.
She spent her entire life in the Monona area, making her home with her aunts, whom she cared for with the help of a sister, until their deaths. She was unmarried and continued to live alone in the family home in Monona, until health conditions made hospitalization necessary.
Miss Eiffert was baptized Feb. 22, 1894, by Rev. John C. Hoffman, pastor of Prairie Evangelical church. She was a faithful and loyal member of Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren church and a staunch supporter of the Women's Society of World Service.
She received her education in the Drahn rural elementary school near Monona.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Esther, who died in 1958.
Surviving are a brother, Roy of Froelich, and a niece and two nephews.
Pallbearers were Dayton Marfilius, David Schlitter, Henry Comnick, Gordon Reinke, Harlan Hass, and Milton Meier.
