Mary Elizabeth Fay, daughter of James and Elizabeth Fay, was born October 19, 1879 in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa. She passed away Sunday, January 6, 1957 at her home six and one-half miles south of Luana, at the age of 77 years.
She attended the Fay country school near where she was born.
The family moved to Postville where they lived several years.
On September 2, 1902 Mary Elizabeth Fay was married to John L. Eno at Postville. The couple moved to a farm in Wagner township six and one-half miles south of Luana where Mary Elizabeth Eno spent the remainder of her life. Her husband died on August 9, 1944. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Surviving are her two sons William Oliver Eno and James Fay Eno, who farms south of Luana, and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Eno was a former member of the Congregational Church in Postville and later transferred her membership to the Congregational Church in Elkader. She was a charter member of the Silver Creek Project Club and the home Garden Club. She was deeply interest in all community affairs and gave liberally of her time and talent to the developing of the community organizations. Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home Wednesday, January 9, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Eno cemetery south of Luana.
