Funeral services for Florence Eno were held Tuesday, May 26, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Eno Cemetery, rural Luana.

Florence Bertha Risch Eno was born June 3, 1901 in Steele County, Owatonna, MN, the only daughter of Peter F. and Antonia (Schutzner) Risch. She had one brother, John Matthew Risch. She died May 22 in Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union, IA.

She was baptized and confirmed at Owatonna, where she and her family lived until about 1910, when they began farming on their homestead 4 miles west of Owatonna. She attended public school and the Pillsbury Academy and graduated from Owatonna High School. She attended a business school in St. Paul, MN and subsequently worked as a secretary for the Great Northern Railroad, also in St. Paul. In 1930 she graduated from the McPhail School of Music with a degree in Music and Education.

Florence taught Music and English at the Orange City High School from 1931 to 1934 and then at Elkader High School and Jr. College from 1934 to 1936. Her student chorus and operetta groups frequently won honors at the state level.

June 3, 1936 she married James Fay Eno at the home of her parents at Owatonna, MN. They had 2 sons. They farmed on the Eno family homestead south of Luana, in Clayton County.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John M. Risch.

Surviving are her husband, James, 2 sons, John P. Eno, Luana and James L. Eno and his wife, Janice, of St. Olaf, 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Risch, Waseca, MN and Helen M. Eno and a nephew, William J. Eno, both of Luana.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 60 year member of the OES, Chapter No. 238 of Postville. She had been the director of the Clayton County Farm Bureau Women's Chorus.

Pallbearers were William F. Eno, William J. Eno, Jack D. Eno, Oliver Fay, Donna Fay Walling, John Gass, JoAnn Walter Hoth and Telmer Olson.
