Paul Jacob Haverland, son of William and Elisabeth Heuer Haverland, was born in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa. Nov. 9, 1886, and died Wednesday, July 30, 1959, at the General Hospital at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, after an illness of only a few days.
He was baptized April 10, 1887, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert and was confirmed March 26, 1899, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert. He received his education in the rural school.
Feb. 8, 1912, Mr. Haverland was united in marriage to Leona Vogt at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center.
Mr. Halverland chose farming as his occupation, having farmed for 13 years in Read Township, 20 years in Farmersburg Township, and the past 10 years has lived in Elkader.
He was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Ora) Schroeder, Garnavillo and Mrs. Dewain (Gwendolyn) Stendel, Sumner; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Henry (Louise) Kottman, McGregor.
Pallbearers were Leroy Kottman, Ray Kottman, Arno Heuer, Reuben Glawe, Freddie Lahrs, and Lawrence Kottman.
Relatives from a distance who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kottman, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Kottman and Gary, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kottman and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Lotza and family, all of Monona. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kottman and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frommelt, Harry Frommelt, Mrs. Walter Mauer, Richard Frommelt, Joe Frommelt, Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lucus, Prairie du Chien; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kadlec, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Mrs. Annis Halverson, Delhi, Iowa
