Friedrich Wilhelm Vogt was born in Read Township, Clayton County, January 15, 1856 where he grew into manhood on his father's farm. In 1881 he married Linda Vulgraf and this union was blessed with seven surviving children, two sons, Fred and Arthur, Ella, Mrs. Fred Lahrs; Linda, Mrs. Geo. Kelpien; Adele, Mrs. Louis Radloff; Ina, Ed. Glawe; Loni, Mrs. Paul Haverland, all living in Clayton county.

In 1898 his wife died and the deceased remained a widower until he married his present surviving wife, Mrs. Amelia Vulgraf, in 1902. There were two children from this union, Lillian, Mrs. Donald Oeike, of Dubuque, and Marian at home. After his second marriage he lived on his farm for 14 years and moved to Farmersburg in 1916.

After but a short illness, he died of penumonia at his home in Farmersburg, Jan 9, attaining an age of 72'years, 11 months and 24 days. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, nine children, twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, John, of Farmersburg, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Conrad, and two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Pahlas and Louise Pahlas.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran church January 12, Pastor Ave-Lallemant officiating. Interment was made at Clayton Center cemetery.

The following relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral of Mr. Vogt Saturday: Christ Ruckdaschel, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Oldag, John Ruckdaschel and Nora, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ruckdaschel, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Ruckdaschel all of Postville; Henry Gossman, Henry Pahlas, Fred Taake, Fred Zahrndt, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Seifert, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Mentzel, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schmidt of Elkader; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Seifert, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Seifert and Harold and Mrs. John Buchheim and Allison and Mrs. Elmer Seeland of Clayton Center, Hy Klinge of Monona and all of Mr. Vogt's children.
