Mrs. Anna Lubka, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Stopperan, was born March 11, 1882, in Clayton county, near Postville. She passed away March 7, 1958 at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 25 days. She was baptized on July 9, 1882 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed on April 10, 1895.
She was married to Louis Lubka on November 27, 1900. To this union were born six children: Elmer of Postville, Clarence of Sherrill, Roy of Postville, Hazel, Mrs. Arnold Backhaus, of Postville, Merle of Monona, and Violet, who passed away at the age of six months.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter; four brothers, Carl of Postville, John of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Will of Cresco, and Fred of Postville; two sisters, Sophia, Mrs. Charles Meyer, of Postville and Mary, Mrs. Fred Bareis, of Castalia.
She is survived by her children: Elmer, Clarence, Roy, Hazel, Mrs. Arnold Backhaus, and Merle; one sister, Mrs. Henry Bareis, of Cresco, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was a life member of the Women of the Church of St. Paul's and a confirmed member of the Church for over 60 years.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on March 10 at 2:00, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor, officiating, Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
