Landt, De Etta Hilda (Rekow) 1903-1985

Funeral services for De Etta Landt, 81, were held Wednesday, Jan. 16 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. The Rev. Ted Ager officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

De Etta Hilda Landt, daughter of Herman and Bertha (Fisher) Rekow, was born March 26, 1903 in Allamakee County, near Luana. She died Jan. 12 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

She was baptized at St. John's by Rev. William Paulsen and confirmed by Rev. J. Westenberger in 1916. She was a member of the first high school graduating class at Luana in 1921. She also attended Wartburg College and Upper Iowa University. She taught in rural schools in Allamakee and Clayton County for several years.

Jan. 18, 1928 De Etta was married to Clarence Landt at St. John's. They were the parents of two sons, LaVerne and William.

She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1950, 3 sisters, Anne Dresser, Minnie Cummings and Helen Farmer and 6 brothers, Otto, Charles, Fred, William, Emil and Henry.

Surviving are her sons, LaVerne, Luana and William, San Leandro, CA, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, her sister Louise Meyer, a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, Postville and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Alan Landt, Tom Hartman, Stanley Schroeder, Tim Seabrooke, Eric Landt, Neil Landt and Leigh Rekow.
