Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 1973, at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, for Paul Charles Landt, who died on December 7, at the age of 18 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Pastor Emil Reinking officiated at the service. Mrs. George Heins of Monona, played the organ. The Choir sang and there was congregational singing. Pallbearers were the U. S. Coast Guard and the Amvets Post 27 Military Escort. Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.
Paul Charles Landt was born May 29, 1955, at Dubuque, Iowa. He spent his early childhood in Dubuque. In early February, 1963, he and his sister, Lynne, were adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Landt. On February 17, 1963, he was baptized in the St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Meyer. On May 17, 1970, he renewed his baptismal vows in the rite of Confirmation at St. John Lutheran in Luana. He was active in Luther League and the work of the church. He attended the M-F-L School system and graduated from M-F-L High School in May of this year. He took an active part in 4-H work and held offices in the local group.
He enlisted in the Coast Guard last February. In July he left for 9 weeks training at Alameda, Calif. Following the completion of his training there he entered Fire Control Technician School at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill. He had just been accepted as a member of the Rifle Drill Team.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, his sister, Lynne, his grandmother, Mrs. Chas. Looby, and many other relatives and friends.
