Mass of Christian Burial for Julia Levenhagen was celebrated Wednesday, June 17, 1992 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. Pallbearers were grandchildren of Julia Levenhagen. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Church cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.
Julia Levenhagen was born November 4, 1905, in Monona, Iowa, to parents James and Sophia Licht Scannell. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. She received her education in country school and St. Patrick's Catholic School.
On April 10, 1923 Julia was united in marriage to Paul Elmer Levenhagen at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. To this union six children were born. The couple farmed near Monona until retiring to their home in Monona.
Julia died Sunday, June 14, 1992 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Paul, who died September 4, 1983; three brothers, John, Julius and Emmett; two sisters, Agnes Klatt and Mary Scannell, and two grandsons.
Surviving are two sons: Rev. Robert Levenhagen of McGregor and James Levenhagen of Medford, WI; four daughters, Mrs. William (Frances) Apfel and Mrs. Allen (Betty Jean) Lawson of LaCrosse, WI, Mrs. Virgil (Mary Lou) Thompson of Monona, and Mrs. William (Anna Mae) Petermeier of Watertown, MN; twenty-nine grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Ann Orr of Monona.
