Rites Held For Ed. A. Looney
Edward A. Looney, son of Thomas Looney and Julia Colliton Looney, was born October 31, 1883 in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county. He was baptized December 6, 1883 at St. Patrick's Church, Monona, by the Rev. G. F. Nagle. He passed away Thursday morning, July 27, at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, following a lingering illness.
On May 21, 1918 he was married to Evelyn Henkes of Farmersburg. To this union five sons were born: Edward, Raymond, Ambrose, Kenneth and James. The couple farmed on the home farm in Grand Meadow township until the fall of 1949 when they retired and moved to Postville.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Edward and Ambrose of Postville; Kenneth of New Hampton; Raymond of Luana; and James of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; and three sisters: Hannah, Mrs. Matt Reiter; Rosella, Mrs. Walter Delaney and Estelle, all of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Tom; and two sisters, Mayme (Mrs. Chris Cavanaugh), and Grace (Mrs. Clem Dunn).
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bridget's Church in Postville with the Rev. F. J. Vallaster officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Monona.
