Funeral services were conducted from the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Charles E. Witt of Postville for Charles Looby, on Friday, May 11.
Charlie Francis Looby was born in Wagner township, near Farmersburg, Iowa, on April 29, 1881, the son of Edward Looby and his wife Margaret Barnam. He passed away at his home on May 7, 1956, at the age of 75. He was married to Althea Lemke on June 30, 1914. To this union were born two sons, Charleton of Wadena, and Lyle of Luana, and three daughters, Idella, Mrs. Helmuth Landt of Luana, Dorothy, Mrs. Frank Troester of Postville, and Patricia of Postville.
Mr. Looby farmed all of his life, for 21 years near Farmersburg, three years near Wadena, and 14 years near Luana. He has lived in Postville for three years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Will Looby of South Dakota and three sisters, Josie, Mrs. Elmer Seery of Chicago, Mrs. Bert Matthews of Oelwein, and Mrs. Henry Oelke of Farmersburg.
He is survived by his wife and children, one brother, Richard of Farmersburg, two sisters, Mrs. Nels Iverson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Mrs. Mabel Engelhardt of Cedar Rapids, and five grandchildren.
