Funeral services for Kenneth J. Looney, 57, were held Wednesday, May 7, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville with the Reverend A. A. McAvoy officiating. Schutte Funeral service was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Monona. Casket bearers were his nine nephews.
Monday, May 5, at the Larkin-Martin Funeral Home, New Hampton, rosaries in charge of the Rosary Society and Knights of Columbus, were said. A Parish Scripture Wake Service was held at 8:30 p.m.
Kenneth John Looney was born Oct. 18, 1922, the son of Edward A. and Evelyn A. (Henkes) Looney in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died May 4, 1980 at St. Joseph's Hospital in New Hampton.
He graduated from the Postville Community School in 1941. For the past 17 years he operated Ken's Barber Shop in New Hampton along with one in Frederika for several years.
Mr. Looney served in the military during WW II. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in New Hampton, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and a brother, Edward E. Looney. He is survived by three brothers: Ray and Ambrose, both of Postville, and James of Prairie du Chien, Wis.
