Inez Irene Lenth, 88, of Monona died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon, following a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. The Rev. Allen Bidne will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 17 from 4-8 p.m. at the Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, and one hour before services at the church Thursday, March 18.
Inez was born February 12, 1922 in Wagner Township, Clayton County to Elmer and Hulda (Kliefoth) Kurth. She was baptized April 30, 1922, and confirmed July 5, 1936, both at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Inez attended country school in the Farmersburg area.
Inez was united in marriage to Wilbert Lenth, Jr. November 18, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Five children were born to this union. She was a devoted mother and especially enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, cooking and reading.
Survivors include her five children, Sheryl (Wayne) Mielke of McGregor, Brad (Ethel) Lenth of Farmersburg, Bruce (Lori) Lenth of Monona, Loren (Mel) Lenth of Luana, and Cindy (Dean) Gordon of Luana; nine grandchildren, Lance Mielke of McGregor, Marcie Boland of Marquette, Kirsten Lenth of Cedar Rapids, Emily Bunten of Cedar Rapids, Amanda Lenth of Davenport, Marshall Lenth of Aurora, CO, Nathan Jones of Minneapolis, MN, Tracy Cheeseman of Ohio, and Tara Cheeseman of Monona; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Jean Herreid of Prairie du Chien, WI; two brothers-in-law, Lorraine Lenth of Postville and Lee (Verna) Lenth of Littleport; and one sister-in-law, Gertrude (Virgil) Kurth of Monona.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbert Lenth, Jr., in June of 1995; and two brothers, Glen and Calvin Kurth.
