Services Held For Mrs. Vern Zieman

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, for Mrs. Vern (Emma) Zieman, who died October 21. The Rev. R. E. Langholz officiated.

Emma Dorothea Zieman, the daughter of John and Ida (Harnack) Krambeer, was born on a farm in Allamakee County, July 3, 1890. She was baptized at Postville August 10, 1890, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith march 27, 1904 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, by the Rev. Paulson. She attended rural schools near Postville.

January 14, 1914, she was united in marriage with Vern Zieman at her parents home with Rev. Paulson officiating. Four children were born to this union: Mrs. Lawrence (Ida Ann) Baade; Curtis; Kermit Wayne, who died in infancy in 1924; and Mrs. Raymond (Phyllis Jean) Chiappe of Winnetka, Illinois.

Following their marriage, the couple farmed south of Luana until 1945 when they moved to Monona.

Mrs. Zieman had served as president of the Ladies Aid and superintendent of Sunday School at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, and held several offices in the Women of the Church work at St. Paul Lutheran, Monona. She was an active member of Peace Circle and St. Paul Lutheran Church at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband Vern of Monona; three children, Mrs. Lawrence Baade and Curtis Zieman of Luana and Mrs. Raymond Chiappe of Winnetka, Illinois; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother John Krambeer and a sister Wilma Krambeer, both of Monona.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ulish and Mrs. Mathilda Bugenhagen.

Burial was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.
