Funeral service for Thomas Lestina were held Monday, November 23, 1992, 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa. Father John Moran officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Denning, Edwin Tayek, Giles Blietz, Ben Marovets, Gilbert Wiethron, Gerald Mielke, and Frank Havlicek. Active pallbearers were Wayne Mielke, Rick Blietz, Bob Tayek, Jim Tayek, Loren Plozel, and L'Dean Henkes. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.

Thomas Frank Lestina, son of Frank V . and Emma (Havlicek) Lestina, was born June 9, 1922 in Giard Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He received his education in the rural school. Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, farming, and the outdoors. He also took care of his older brother and mother. Thomas retired from farming in 1987.

Thomas died Friday, November 20, 1992 at the Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, at the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 11 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, [Raymond in 1974] and a sister.

Survivors include six sisters, Loretta (Clifford) Tesar and June Looney, both of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Donna Martie of McGregor, Iowa; Helen Stickfort of Garnavillo, Iowa, Irene Ambrose of Waterloo, Iowa, and Marcella (Arnie) Lenth of Garnavillo, Iowa; two brothers, James of Coggon, Iowa and Charles of McGregor, Iowa, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
