Services for Dale Gilson, 59, were held August 25 at Grace Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien. Rev. Douglas Bode officiated and interment was at Clarinda. He was a Korean War veteran and military rites were held in Clarinda. Dale died August 22 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1932 at Postville, the son of Orrie and Mary Amundson Gilson. He married Jean Daly in 1958 at LaCrosse. He married Marles Walters at Maryville, Mo.
From 1966 to 1979 he was a correctional supervisor at the Iowa Men's Reformatory. He then worked at Luster Heights until his retirement this year.
Survivors include his wife, Marles; two daughters, Heidi of Prairie du Chien and Mary Gregor of Maquoketa; a step-daughter, Dee Miller of Alameda, Calif.; four sons, Mike of Wyoming, David of Oxford Junction, Danny of Maquoketa and Eric in Germany; eight grandchildren; five sisters, Dorothy Aldredge and Norma Rosell of Decorah, Myrtle Drahn of Monona, Carol Reeder of Waukon and Delores Steiner of McHenry, Ill.; and two brothers, John of Waukon and Lawrence of Eitzen, Minn.
