Mrs. Herman F. Gruel Passes Away at Luana

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in St. John's Lutheran church in Luana for Mrs. Herman F. Gruel who passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday following an illness of several months. She was 73 years old. The Rev. Paul A. Adix will officiate at the services and interment will be in the Luana cemetery.

Mrs. Gruel was born at Garnavillo as Minnie Koss on November 28, 1872. She was married to Herman F. Gruel at Garnavillo February 16, 1897, and to them were born three children, Alvin of Postville, Viola (Mrs. Wilbert Lenth) of Monona, and Wilbert Gruel of Decorah, who with the husband survive, as do seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The Gruel family made their home at or near Luana for many years.
