Visitation was from 9:00 a.m. until Mass Time January 22, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elkader, IA. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. January 22, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church , Elkader, for Mariella Miller, who died January 18, 2010. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Elkader. Leonard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Mariella Miller, 76, of Elkader, died Monday, January 18, 2010, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. Mariella Olive Scott Miller was born July 25, 1933, to Mel and Lois (Homan) Olive in Corning, IA. Mariella graduated from Corning High School in 1951. She married Bill Scott in 1952. To this union, three children were born. After the death of her husband in 1963, Mariella married John Miller in Elkader, IA. This brought the blended “Brady Bunch” family up to six children.
Mariella was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph’s Guild, St. Joseph’s Crafters and was the sexton of St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Mariella and John Miller were the owners of the Fashion Shoppe and J & M Spirits for many years in Elkader. She loved to play cards, marbles, crafting and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved her past bridge club and euchre club friends.
Survivors include her children, Becky (Corby) Gundacker of Elkader, Sidney (Rhonda) Miller of Winter Springs, FL, Mike (Janet) Miller of Winston Salem, NC, Jane Scott (Arlan) Quandahl of Monona, Jill (DeeJay) Smith of Land O’ Lakes, FL; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Rick Corlett of Farmersburg.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Bill Scott and John Miller; daughter, Marcia Corlett and brothers Carlton Olive and Russell Olive.
