Ivanelle Elaine “Ivy” Dennler, 75 of Elkader, died Sunday evening, May 31, 2009, at the Elkader Care Center. She was born November 5, 1933 near Elgin, IA to Albert and Ida (Wilson) Erickson.

She married Lavern Dennler on June 12, 1950. She farmed, owned and operated Stake and Stein, worked at the Surge Store and made and sold crafts. Ivy loved working in her flower garden and cooking for family and friends. She always remembered everyone’s favorites and prepared it for them.

Survivors include her children, Ron (Nancy) Dennler, Farmersburg, Rick (Glennda) Dennler, Elgin, Randy Dennler, Lincoln, NE and Becky (Layne) Tielbar, Schuyler, NE; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley (Viola) Erickson, Elkader; a sister, Priscilla Groff, Hiawatha; sisters-in-law, Norma Erickson and Grace Erickson, Farmersburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Lavern in 1992; infant daughter Rebbecca; brothers, Charles, Albert and Bill Erickson and two great-grandbabies, Drew and Sammy Dennler.

Memorial services were held on Thursday morning, June 4, 2009, at the First Congregational Church in Elkader. Inurnment followed in the Elgin Cemetery.

Honorary casket bearers included Joyce Phillips, Carol Ann Keenan, Frances Overett, Jennifer Hyland, Diane Johnston, Judy Glesne, Evelyn Knospe, Brenda Breitsprecher, Dorothy Leonard, Marge Larson, Ida Henrickson and Marge Dutka.
