OBITUARY (Monona (IA) Leader, Aug. 25, 1955) Funeral Services for Mrs. Michael Peters, 85, were held last Thursday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock from the Schultz Funeral Home to the Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren Chuch at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. A.W. Ebert officiating.
Burial was in the City Cemetery.
Mrs. Peters died Monday morning, Aug. 15, at 5:10 o'clock at the Lutheran Hospital in Beaver Dam, Wis., following a lingering illness.
For the last several years, Mrs. Peters spent the winter months at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer Dickinson, in Beaver Dam, Wis., always returning to her home in Monona in the spring and during the summer months. Because of her recent illness,she had been in Beaver Dam since Labor Day, 1954.
As Emma, she was born the daughter of William Moritz and Marie Stiehle (sic) Moritz, Jan. 20, 1870 in Monona. She spent her entire life in this community.
She was married to Michael Peters of Monona, April 10, 1894. Mr. and Mrs. Peters enjoyed the privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary with their family and friends, April 10, 1944. Mr. Peters died in July, 1944.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Elmer, two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Homer (Gladys) Dickinson of Beaver Dam, Wis.; two sons, Harry and Ray of Monona; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Hubacher of Mason City; Mrs. Celia Stadtmiller of Luana, and Mrs. Minnie Klotzbach of Appleton, Wis., 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Justus Kammerer,soloist, who sang, "Still, Still With Thee" and "Abide With Me". Mrs. A.W. Ebert presided at the organ console.
Pallbearers were Homer Klotzbach, Gilbert Stadtmiller, Felix Moritz, and Dayton, Eugene and Robert Peters.
