OBITUARY (Believed to be from Monona, IA Newspaper) January 11, 1962
Funeral services for Mrs. Celia Stadtmiller, 87, were held last Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana (IA), with Rev. L.W. Reuther officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
Mrs. Stadtmiller died at the Postville hospital Wednesday morning, Jan. 3, at 4:30 o'clock. She was taken to the hospital about two weeks previously having suffered a fractured hip.
As Cecelia Dorothy, she was born the daughter of William and Marie, nee Stiehl, Moritz, June 4, 1874, in Monona township. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Garnavillo and was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church at Luana by Rev. Paul Adix. Her childhood and youth were spent in the Luana community. She received her education in the Luana school.
She was married to Edward Frank Stadtmiller, Feb. 6, 1897. After their marriage they lived on various farms in the Luana community. Since 1909 she lived on the farm which they purchased. It is now operated by a son, Lawrence Stadtmiller.
For 20 years she made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stadtmiller. Since July 1960, she lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krueger.
Preceding her in death were her husband, who died Dec. 21, 1936, five sisters, two of whom died in infancy, Elizabeth Moritz, Mrs. Michael (Emma) Peters, and Mrs. Charles (Lillian) Meckfessel; one brother Herman Moritz, and her parents.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Irene) Krueger of Luana, and Mrs. Florence Johnson of Saginaw, Mich.; two sons, Gilbert of Menasha, Wis. and Lawrence of Luana; two sisters,Mrs. John (Ella) Hubacher of Mason City and Mrs. Sylvester (Minnie) Klotzbach of Appleton, Wis,; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Music at the services were provided by the senior choir at St. John's Lutheran Church. Helmuth Landt was the organist.
Pallbearers were; Art Palas, William Bugenhagen Jr., Glen Palas, Edwin Bugenhagen Sr., and Oliver and Arno Doerring.
Among those from a distance attending the funeral services were:
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Klotzbach and Mrs. Sylvester Klotzbach of Appleton, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hubacher of Mason City and Mrs. Norman Brunsvold of Kensett.
