Funeral services were held for Beryl Eulalie Frieden, 77, Monday, July 26, 1993, at Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader. Rev. Lance A. Bentley officiated the service with burial in Highland Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elkader. Pallbearers were Donald Yauslin, Eugene Erickson, Dick Dinan, Gary Bell, Brad Frieden and Tad Meier.

Beryl Frieden was born January 29, 1916, at Highland Township, rural Elkader, Iowa, the daughter of Gustav and Anna (Amoth) Hader. She was raised and educated in the Highland Township area attending country school. On June 6, 1934, she was united in marriage to Orville F. Frieden at Elkader. Two children were born to this union. They lived much of their married life in Elkport. There they operated the Old Mill Drive Inn for many years. After her husband's death on July 20, 1990, she moved to Guttenberg where she resided in an apartment for a couple of years. At this time she entered the Guttenberg Care Center. After a few weeks in the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Beryl Frieden died there Thursday, July 22, 1993.

Survivors include her daughter Marlys, Mrs. Carl Bennet of Brookfield, Wis.; her son Orland of Central City; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister Ruby, Mrs. Barney Yauslin of West Union.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
