Funeral services were held for Walter Thomas Funk, 93, Monday, Sept. 28, 1992, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Edgewood, Iowa. Rev. Clarence Frana officiated the service with burial in St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery, Edgewood. Pallbearers were Oliver Jewell, Wayne Gerlach, Burdette Ackman, Paul Fannon, Carl Ackman and DeVere Clinton.

Walter Thomas Funk was born April 8, 1899 in Edgewood, the son of Joseph and Mary (Putz) Funk. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Edgewood High School. He spent his entire life in the area where he worked for F. H. Hatch Produce for many years.

On Jan. 10, 1938 he married Laura Ackman at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Edgewood. She preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 1984. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. He died Friday, Sept. 25, 1992 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home where he resided for a number of years.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and his parents.
