OBITUARY:
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 4, at the Peace United Church of Christ for Charles Rudolph Dohrer, West Union, with the Rev. Alvin Volle officiating. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Louis Possehl,Melvin Scott, Wilder Mattox, Freeland Koontz, Floyd Ingles and Pat Campbell.
Charles Rudolph Dohrer, son of Charles and Augusta Meyer Dohrer, was born March 31, 1920, at Elkader, and died Jan1, 1963, at West Union.
He received his education at the Dohrer rural school near Elkader; was a member of the 80th Quartermaster Co., United States Army, World War II, and a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Waukon.
Since March, 1962, Mr. Dohrer has operated a tavern in West Union.
He was married in October, 1950, to Mrs. Donna Moritz.
He is survived by his wife and daughter Kathrine Ann at home and three stepchildren, David, Paul and Mary Moritz; three brothers, John Dohrer, Marietta, MN; Harold Dohrer, Elkader; and Robert Dohrer, Dubuque; three sisters, Mrs. Varol (Hilda) Clough, Dubuque; Mrs. Clifford (Kate) Nelson, Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Clarence (Millie) Whitham, Prairie Du Sac, Wis.
