OBITUARY: Henry V. Dohrer Funeral Services Held on Friday
VOLGA: (IA) Henry V. Dohrer, a lifelong resisdent of Clayton county died Wednesday, July 26, at his home in Volga City. He was seventy years old.
Henry V. Dohrer was born in Cox Creek (township), August 1, 1873, second son of August and Mary Hamann Dohrer. He was married to Miss Bessie Taylor on Feb. 15, 1899. After farming for a period, they moved to Elkader,(IA) where their children were educated. Mr. Dohrer was was employed many years as a machinist. In the fall of 1933, Mr. & Mrs. Dohrer purchased a home in Volga City where they have since resided.
Mr. Dohrer is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. W. J. (Hazel Cain of Chicago and Mrs. Carl P. (Erma) Lechner of Ames; two sons, Glenn G. Dohrer of Davenport and Staff Sgt. Gordan Dohrer, overseas in the service of his country. One son Leon, preceded him in death Aug. 15,1940. He is also survived by two brothers, August A. Dohrer, Elkader and Rudoplh Dohrer, St. Paul, Minn., one sister Mrs. Fred Wistrick of Elkader; one grandaughter, Carla Beth Lechner of Ames, besides many nieces, nephews and friends in the community.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Prebyterian Chuch, the Rev. R.P. Nelson having charge of the service. Mrs. R.W. Duff furnished the music. Casket bearers were Howard Bordan, C.W. Kohls, Albert Kunzman, Ira C. Moore, Fred Rinkert and H.L. Rogers.

Stemmer, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Wirkler & Naomi, Mrs. Clifford Dittmer, Mr. & Mrs. LeRoy Dittmer, Earl West, Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Dittmer, Elkader; Mrs. Verle Clough & June Clough, Mrs. Frank Crimmins, Dubuque;Mr. & Mrs. Harry Taylor, Mrs. Darrell Humphrey, Mrs. Florence Voshell, Arlington; Mrs. Clifton Myers, Blooming Prairie, Minn; Ruth Brink, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Mr. & Mrs. Otto Elvers, Littleport.
