Funeral Services Held For Erwin Fette

Funeral services for Erwin Fette were held at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg on Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Heck officiating.

Pallbearers were Orval Meuller, Ivan Meisner, Clarence Engelhardt, Herbert Zurcher, James Probert, Harley Palas, Harley Herrmann, and Fritze Mueller. Burial was in Clayton Center.

Erwin Henry Fette, son of William and Helena (Beshman) Fette, was born Sept. 17, 1913 at Otisco, Minn. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith at Otisco and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Meridan, Minnesota.

He spent his youth in Minnesota and came to Iowa in 1934 to work on various farms.

October 7, 1937, he married Florence Eberhardt at Clayton Center. They lived on various farms in the St. Olaf area until her death on Oct. 24, 1959. Erwin did construction work from 1960 to 1966. On June 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Krambeer, at which time he transferred his membership from Clayton Center to St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. In 1972 Erwin was taken ill and had surgery in LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital. He again entered the Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis. on Sept. 6, 1973, and returned home Sept. 24th. From this time he was confined to his bed until the time of his death, 10:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 1974, at the age of 60 years, 3 months, 26 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers: Martin, Albert and Roland; one sister, Mrs. John (Eldora) Erko; and his first wife, Florence.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Phyllis; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Betsy) Recknor of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Douglas (Lois) Carolan of Davenport, and Mrs. Jerry (Debra) Gamm of Volga; five grandchildren, Robyn and Ronda Recknor of Portland; Patrick and Martin Carolan of Davenport; and Jeremy Gamm of Volga; four step-children, LuVerne Krambeer of Farmersburg, Mrs. Duane (Verda) Lamker of Monona, Mrs. Eugene (Marilyn) Baade of McGregor, and Mrs. James (Judith) Walter, Luana; 13 step-grandchildren, three brothers, Walter of Fairbank, Roland of Owatonna, Minn., and Leonard Fette of Waseca, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Elizabeth) Schrader, Good Samaritan Home, Waukon; Mrs. Eldo (Mildred) Meyer, Elkader; and Mrs. Bruno (Margaret) Spoerl of Minneapolis, Minn.
