Funeral services for Edward Frese were held Monday, January 19, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. Terrance Hennesy, pastor, officiated, with scripture read by the Rev. Jeffrey Frese. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa.

Edward William Boone Frese, son of John Benjamin and Harriet Elizabeth (Boone) Frese, was born January 3, 1913 at Guttenberg, Iowa. He died Friday, January 16, 1987 at his home in Postville.

He was graduated from Monona High School in 1933. On July 8, 1935 he was married to Edna L. Goodell at Cresco, Iowa. They had 3 children.

Ed was employed at the Huinker Garage in Monona and came to Postville in 1936 where he was employed at the Hecker Garage. In 1952 he purchased the business from Robert Hecker and named it the Frese Garage. He retired in 1977. For the past several years he had been employed as a watchman at Norplex.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie Ann Frese who died in 1940, his parents, two brothers, Benjamin and Robert and a sister, Helen Louise Frese.

Surviving are his wife, Edna, one son, Robert Edward (Gwen) Frese of Nevada, Iowa, one daughter, Mary Lou (Charles) Stewart of Rochester, Minnesota, two grandsons, Jeffrey Robert (Millie) Frese and Michael David (Patty) Frese, and one great granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Frese.

Ed was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and of the Postville Volunteer Fire Department from 1947 to 1959.

Casketbearers were Ray Severson, Mark Zweibohmer, Lyle Olson, Walter Germann, Jr., Curt Frese, Howard Strumme.
