Hold Funeral Rites For Mrs. Fette

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Fette were held Thursday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran church, Luana, with Rev. John Mohr officiating. Mrs. Fette died Sunday, May 9, 1971 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, at the age of 89.

Helene Wilhelmine Dorothea, daughter of Marcus and Dorothea (Meier) Beshmann, was born November 6, 1881 at Meriden, Minnesota and received her education in the Meriden rural schools.

She was married to William Fette, November 2, 1900 at Otisco, Minnesota and the couple started farming there, later moving to a farm near Meriden, Minnesota. In 1934 they moved to a farm near Elkader and in 1941 moved to a farm near Luana. After Mr. Fette's death, January 24, 1944, Mrs. Fette moved to Luana.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Eldora Erko; two sons, Albert and Martin; one sister and six brothers.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Elizabeth) Schrader of Luana; Mrs. Eldo (Mildred) Meyer of Farmersburg and Mrs. Bruno (Margaret) Spoerl of Minneapolis, Minnesota; five sons, Leonard of Waseca, Minnesota; Erwin of Farmersburg; Walter of Fairbank and Roland of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Labahn and Mrs. Alma Hagemann both of Madison, South Dakota; 30 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the St. John Lutheran cemetery at Luana.
