Walt Ferguson Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Walter A. Ferguson, 59, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Schultz Funeral home to the Methodist church at 2 o'clock with Rev. E. Wayne Hilmer officiating.

Graveside services at the City cemetery were in charge of the Leslie H. Smith Post No. 519 of the American Legion.

Mr. Ferguson died at the Postville hospital, Wednesday, June 1, as the result of a stroke. He was stricken at his home May 22 and had been a patient at the hospital since that time.

He was born a son of George C. and Chlista Jenkins Ferguson on a farm in Linton township, Allamakee county, July 29, 1895. He received his education in the Walnut Grove school north of Monona. He spent his entire life on the farm, with the exception of two years when he served his country during World War I as a sailor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Reed.

Surviving are two brothers, William of Waukon and Robert of Monona, three nephews, and one niece.

Honorary pallbearers were H. H. Dahms, Ed Hamann, Lloyd Bacon, O. H. Wirkler, Glen Melcher, and Charles Reidel.

Active pallbearers were Page Dull, Harry Kuthe, Edmund Ryan, Felix Moritz, Carl Melcher, Harry Bacon, Charles Blietz, and H. T. Orr.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral services were Ernest and Miss Thelma Wilkins of Chugwater, Wyo., Mrs. Elmer Holt and Roy Thornton of Decorah, Mrs. Clara Johnson, Mrs. Everett Seath, and Mrs. Harley Cowell of Waukon, and Mr. and Mrs. George Franck of Hazelton.
