Archie Carl Andy, 96, McGregor, Iowa, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Prairie Madison Nursing Home, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a brief illness. Archie was born on December 22, 1911, rural McGregor, Iowa, to Arthur S. and Edna (Love) Andy. He attended Pleasant Ridge Country School through the eighth grade. Archie left home at the age of fifteen and worked where ever he could find work to do.

Archie was united in marriage to Adeline Amp in Oelwein, Iowa, on October 31, 1933. Five children were born to this union. Archie was a farmer, pilot, carpenter, hunter, fisherman, wine maker and raised Appaloosa horses. Archie and Adeline loved traveling and spent many winters in Texas. They along with their children traveled the United States every year since 1946. He was a 4-HO leader and was actively involved in Clayton County Farm Bureau for many years as a member and board member.

Survivors include three daughters, June (Bern ell) Larson, McGregor, Myrna Schmalz, Garnavillo, Sharon (Gene) Peters, Monona; one son, Allen Andy, McGregor; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Loraine Andy.

Archie was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline, in 1998; one infant son, Alton; one grandson, Timothy Orangeman; two great grandsons, Ross and Ryan Wilke; one great granddaughter, Katrina Peters; two sons-in-law, Fred Orangeman and Gene Schmalz; one daughter-in-law, LaVerna Andy; four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiated. Burial followed in Council Hill Cemetery, rural McGregor, Iowa. Leonard Funeral Home of Monona had charge of arrangements..
