Edward A. Hamann, Jr., 65, of Marquette, Iowa, died Wednesday May 21, 2008, at Franciscan-Skemp Health care in La Crosse, Wis., following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Sunday May 25, 2008, at First Lutheran Church rural McGregor, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor at a later date.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Marquette, Iowa; daughter Tammy (Loral) Hare of Prairie du Chien, Wis., son Brian (April) Hamann of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, five grandchildren: Matthew and Caitlin Hare, Justin, Adam, Jarrett Hamann, one great granddaughter Lily Howe; one brother Robert Hamann of Marquette, Iowa, two sisters, Carolyn Weipert and Gloria Bird both of Prairie du Chien, Wis. He was preceded in death by an infant son Jeffrey and his parents.
Edward was born November 3, 1942, in Elkader, Iowa to Edward and Juniver (Bruehahn) Hamann. He attended school at Mar Mac. He married Marilyn Strnad on October 26, 1963, at St. Gabriel Church in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Edward drove truck for Prairie Sand & Gravel for 32 years. Edward was an avid duck hunter and also enjoyed fishing and any outdoors activities. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taught them how to hunt.
