Mrs. A. Fick Funeral Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Albert (Hanna) Fick, 87, were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral home in Monona, with Rev. Paul Clements officiating. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.
Mrs. Fick died Friday, Feb. 19, at the Postville hospital where she had been receiving medical treatment since Feb. 1.
She was born the daughter of Henry and Christine (Carlson) Bentien, on August 23, 1877, in Germany. When she was 4 years of age she came with her parents to Luana, where they made their home for two years before moving to a farm east of Monona.
She received her education in the rural schools and was confirmed in the Lutheran church by Rev. Johannes Graening.
She was married to Albert Fick Dec. 24, 1914, by Rev. Otto Wappler, at the Lutheran parsonage in Monona. The couple farmed until 1954 when they retired and moved to Monona. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Oct. 12, 1964, at the home of their son and family.
Mrs. Fick was a member of the Monona Methodist church and devoted her life to her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, August, Ernest, and Godfrey; two sisters, Mrs. John (Lizzie) Hack, and Mrs. Elza (Mabel) Moyer.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Charles of Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Rudolph (Martha) Engelhardt of Monona, and Mrs. Dora Sargent of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Henry Bentien of Spencer, S. D.; one grandson, Steven Fick, and several nieces and nephews.
Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Ben Frese, soloist; accompanist was Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz.
Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Linford Bentien, Melvin Engelhardt, Harlin Bentien, Gilbert Rose, Lester Hack, Byron Kruse, and Gordon Wells.
Relatives attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Waltemate of Waverly, Lester Hack of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wells of Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Engelhardt of Mabel, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Engelhardt of Postville, Mrs. Stanley Benson of Sycamore, Ill., and Lee Gorman of Malts, Ill.
