Albert Fick Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Albert Frederick Wilhelm Fick, 87, were held Tuesday afternoon, May 4, at 2 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral home in Monona, with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.

Mr. Fick died Saturday, May 1, at the Postville hospital where he had been taken the previous day.

He was born the son of Carl and Henrietta (Waskow) Fick, Oct. 14, 1877, in Germany. He came to the United States as a young boy and was confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church April 7, 1895, by Rev. Johannes Graening.

He was married to Hanna Bentien, Dec. 24, 1914, at St. Paul Lutheran parsonage by Rev. Johannes Graening. The couple made their home in Monona, where Mr. Fick followed the carpenter trade until 1936, when they purchased a farm north of Monona, now being operated by their son, Charles. Mr. and Mrs. Fick retired to Monona in 1955.

On Oct. 14, 1964, they observed their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their son.

Preceding him in death was his wife, who died Feb. 19, 1965.

Survivors include one son, Charles; one grandson, Steven; a stepsister, Mrs. Gus Strelow of Waterloo; one nephew, Byron Kruse of Monona; two nieces, Mrs. Martin Vandenberg of Dalton, Minn., and Miss Esther Thias of Monona, and a cousin, Mrs. Henry Taake of Des Moines.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Ben Frese, soloist, Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was the organist.

Pallbearers were Melvin Engelhardt, Byron Kruse, Gilbert Rose, Linford Bentien, Lester Hack, Harlin Bentien and Gordon Wells.

Those from a distance attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bentien of Spencer, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wells of Dubuque, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Engelhardt of Decorah.
